Yoga and Body Awareness

Yoga uses postures, breathing and relaxation to balance the physical body, mental thoughts and emotional feelings. It creates harmony within, which benefits physical and mental health, and assists the realisation of the self.

The physical postures and breathing exercises tone the body and improve its functioning. But they also demand the attention of the mind, which in turn induces relaxation. A relaxed mind helps the body to relax. Thus yoga works from the outside in and the inside out.

This term, as we practice the full range of yoga postures, with breathing and relaxation, we will focus our awareness on various parts of the body, working from the feet up to the head:
